ULINX: Magnetic Attraction
ULINX Jewelry, a store based in Los Angeles, California, sent me this awesome accessory a week ago. It’s made up of only magnetized links (or “linx”)—which means you won’t see any strings or glues in between links/beads, making it seamless and modifiable.
ULINX provides the customer 4 collections of predesigned spheres/squares, called CLIX, to choose from. And everything else is up to the customer. To create your jewelry, you will have to choose from the styles on their website app:
And then choose your CLIX design from the collections. In my case, I chose the peace symbols. I didn’t want to mix and match designs so I came up with this. You can, however, create your own combination.
What I really love about this jewelry is that you can actually create many accessories from one bracelet. One ULINX bracelet is made up of 26 to 32 beads. It is quite big for my wrist, so I use the spare ones as earrings and ring! Isn’t that awesome?
The magnets are strong enough to prevent everything from falling off. However, like other magnets, it should not be placed in direct contact with pacemakers and unshielded devices that use magnetic storage, such as ATM cards, credit cards, etc. Per the website, “Under normal use, small magnets should not affect computers, hard drives, cameras, MP3 players, LCD screens or watches.” Children under 14 years of age are advised not to use the jewelry; the jewelry is not a toy. Other than those precautions, ULINX is a very fun accessory.
